New Instruct access funding pilot launched

16-Jul-2019

From 1st July, a pilot programme will be implemented to evaluate a revised funding model for Instruct-ERIC access. Due to the extreme differential in the cost of providing access using different technologies, the Instruct Executive Committee has agreed a new schedule of access costs for each technology which closely follows the model used for European transnational access projects (e.g. INFRAIA projects). The pilot will be for 6 months. Proposals that are completed within the time frame 1st July - 31st December 2019 will be paid using the revised funding model.

These changes will most closely reflect the actual cost of providing access for the Centre involved, making it more attractive to provide access for Instruct users which in turn may increase the amount of access available.

The Executive Committee will make a recommendation, based on the pilot evaluation, to the Instruct Council  in Q1 2020.

There will be no apparent changes to the process from the point of view of the user, but please let us know if you feel it impacts your access experience in any way.
