Villigen, Switzerland
Application deadline: 15 May 2021

Based in Villigen, Switzerland, leadXpro AG is a lead compound discovery company focusing on membrane protein drug targets such as GPCRs, ion-channels and transporters. Based on a unique platform for membrane protein expression, purification and engineering, and with preferred access to synchrotron/free electron laser (SLS/SwissFEL) for X-ray analysis and cryo-EM facilities (Uni Basel), leadXpro is able to characterize the interaction of small molecules and biotherapeutics with drug targets timely to impact the drug discovery of novel therapeutics.

To further expand their team, they are opening a position for a X-ray crystallographer, with a primary focus on GPCR. The successful candidate will be expected to work within a dynamic team that values transparency, integrity, reliability and a passion for science to create benefits for patients.

Key duties include:

  • GPCR construct design to enhance expression, stability and crystallisability
  • Purification of GPCR using standard chromatography methods
  • Constructs screening, monitoring of protein quality and purity using fluorescence-size exclusion chromatography
  • Crystallisation of GPCR in lipidic cubic phase, vapour diffusion or bicelle crystallisation
  • Data collection at synchrotron, data processing and structural refinement of GPCR/ligand complexes
  • Work in collaboration with a multi-discipline team and external collaborators
  • Actively develop the scientific reputation and methodology of GPCR crystallisation of the company

The successful candidate should have

  • A Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated expertise and success track record in GPCR/membrane protein structural biology
  • Excellent track record of crystallisation and structural solution of GPCR/ligand complexes
  • In-depth knowledge of synchrotron data collection and X-ray crystallography data processing software packages including CCP4, XDS and PHENIX
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and fluency in English
