Talk 1: Drug screening by in-cell NMR

Speaker: Enrico Luchinat

Abstract:  In-cell NMR can provide unique insights on the structure and function of macromolecules in a cellular setting. At CERM, we developed an in-cell NMR approach to monitor ligand binding in human cells in real time, providing critical information on the cell penetrance and binding selectivity of potential drugs. 

 

Talk 2: 1.2 GHz NMR applied to Sars-CoV2 proteins

Abstract:   The global outbreak of SARS-CoV2 viral infection is associated with the absence of specific drug(s) or vaccines able to fight it. The knowledge of the structural properties of SARS-CoV2 viral proteins is strategic in this effort and the 1.2 GHz NMR spectrometer, recently installed at CERM, has been strategic to unravel atomic-level structural details of proteins involved in the SARS-CoV2 lifecycle and to identify strategies to interfere with the disease.

 

Talk 3: SS NMR of functionalised biomaterials

Speaker: Marco Fragai

Abstract: The characterization of proteins embedded in matrices or conjugated with biocompatible polymers to produce biotherapeutics represents a major challenge for structural biology. We have several examples where the use of solid-state NMR alone or integrated with solution NMR data and x-ray crystallography allowed a detailed structural characterisation of these heterogeneous systems.
